On December 12, 2020, members of the New Hackensack Fire Company took part in an annual fundraiser put on by local resident Adam Blake and his family. Each year, Adam decorates his house and property with Christmas lights and decorations, and donations that are made during the light display are donated to an organization of the Blake's choosing. This year the Blake's decided to choose an organization very close to home, their local volunteer fire department, the New Hackensack Fire Company in the Town of Wappinger.
Members of the Fire Company decorated one of the trucks, 52-45, the newest addition to the fire apparatus that serves the New Hackensack Fire District, and made their way over to the Blake residence for the fundraiser scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00pm that evening. With Santa accompanying and riding on 52-45, we arrived at the Blake residence with Christmas lights twinkling and music playing, and sirens and lights flashing shortly before 5:00PM.
The Blake's had a tent set-up with hot chocolate, cookies and other treats. There was a steady stream of people driving by and stopping to view the decorations. Of course, this being 2020 and due to Covid-19, masks were worn by everyone there, and social distancing was taking place.
On Thursday, January 7, 2021, Adam and his family came to the Fire Company monthly meeting and presented a check to the Fire Company in the amount of $1000.00, that was raised through the donations made by the public. A Huge thank you goes out to the Blake family for their efforts and hard work, as well as to the members of the community that attended the event and donated. Thank you to ALL.
